MelJayNaray Rhyme 4 ALL

When you feel you have to rush to reach a certain aim,

And flirt with the temptation to cheat,

Don’t run down the one way street to “Shame”,

You don’t have to be an athlete.

Don’t let the clock be a dictator,

Dreams take time to fulfil...

What you can’t achieve today, you can achieve later,

Let each step be a thrill!

Because with every move and effort,

You’ll be little bit further than before,

And choosing the long route over the short cut,

Will take you to the higher scores!

MelJayNaray Poem: You are Beautiful!

A poem to show how I feel about beauty :) Everyone has beauty, we are ALL beautiful! I'm really happy that I see things this way- thanks to Jesus, my wonderful family and lovely friends <3 I hope people feel happy after reading this poem!

You are Beautiful!

You are beautiful even if they say that you’re too short,

Of course you have spirits that let you reach the heights of an astronaut!

Use your ability to stand strong when they claim that you’re too tall and attack you with verbal claws,

After all, who will still be standing when clumsy tongues trip up and insults pause?

Reach for your spark when they tell you that ordinary people are too dull to have an added plus,

Everyone has the means of lighting the Earth so why should you be anonymous?

Believe you are beautiful when they take one look and brand you disfigured,

Each person’s skin is presented differently to stop us fading and becoming blurred.

Ask them if they can define the word “ugly” and when they come up with definitions most lewd,

Unleash your alternative dictionary to provide them with synonyms renewed!

The beauty of a green lizard can be found in the yellow of the sun, so why must we only appreciate it from one dimension?

If your happiness in being beautiful is looking to be thwarted,

Free your heart’s opinion to leave others' aborted!

Underneath the clothes and skin you see, there is a naked skeleton and a skull,

Let’s enjoy dressing these with many shapes, sizes and colours beautiful!

MelJayNaray Poem: FAB FRIENDS

This is a very special poem that I have written for all the people that have blessed me with friendship and inspiration on Twitter. Some of you have become my closest, dearest friends; some are people who I have had some lovely conversations with and some are famous stars who understandably I don’t know personally, but totally respect! Some are actually all three! For all of you though, what remains the same is that at some point or another, you have made me smile and therefore have given me experiences to treasure! Because I have not been on Twitter recently, I wanted to write a poem of thanks to let you know how lovely I think you all are. It was also important of me to tell you how inspiring many of you have been for me- particularly in my poetry (but not only in this)! Massive thanks for your friendships, smiles and inspiration. Thank you for taking the time to read my poems and give me such constructive and beautiful comments. Thank you to all those hardworking tweeps who make awesome fan books and have kindly let me contribute my poems! And also to the stars who I have written for, thank you for inspiring me to write about you. For those who have been able to respond thank you for your lovely words!. All this has given me such confidence and joy to continue writing- and I am ever so happy to write. I’m happy to tell you all that I’ve put an entry in for the National Poetry Competition 2011- I don’t think I would have been ready for this if I hadn’t gained so much confidence through Twitter- and you’ve all played a part in this. Even for those of you who haven’t read or commented on my poems, you have certainly blessed me with something that inspires me to write. Hope you enjoy this little poem, with much love and best wishes Mel XXX

FAB FRIENDS

For all of you, it is with joy that I write words such as these,

And to thank you now is an opportunity I want to seize!

Because at one point or another you have ensured that my spirits elevate,

Fetching me smiles when I have suffered from a burden’s weight!

Reminding me to believe in the half full cup,

Inspiring me to use my gifts so that they can develop!

Even though my recent tweets have been close to none,

Never feel that for any of you I would ever shun,

Deep is my admiration for you and I proudly salute,

Such lovely people for filling my bowl with the sweetest fruits!

MelJayNaray Poem: Back off Cupid!

Hiya :) It's been a busy time for me recently, so it's been all quiet of the poetry front! However, I've managed to write this one on Sunday, and having a reuinion with the creative juices has been just what I've needed! It might be a while until I write another, and I'm sorry to say that this is hardly a positive one!! I think it does have a funny tone to it though! It tells the story of someone who wants nothing to do with romantic love- it seems more trouble than its worth! So the person is basically telling Cupid where to go! And I'm sure the style is a little inspired by the quirky delightful song lyrics of "Stupid Cupid"  written by Howard Greenfield and Neil Sedaka and sung wonderfully by Connie Francis :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTF3ggSaUGI

I wouldn't mind my version being turned into a song (if anyone would be interested?!)- though it would definitely need tweeking to make it more "lyrical".  Well I do hope you enjoy it in its poem form! Sending love and best wishes :) Mel XXX

Back off Cupid!

I see Cupid coming with his dart,
Drunk with love behind the wheel,
So I put a cage up around my heart,
With bars of the strongest steel!

When there's a malfunction of his spell,
That's when you get hit!
Which is why I'm going to repel,
And do everything I can to protect from a crack or a split!

Love is temporary magic,
It tricks you into a trap,
The honeymoon is over too quick,
And then you’re lost without a map!

So Cupid let me give YOU some directions,
Just keep driving West whenever I’m at East
And I’ll give my heart an inspection,
To make sure your visit hasn’t left it creased!

The heart can be damaged from the hunt,
When someone tracks it down to scar it with lies,
So I don’t mind if I’m deficient,
In dwindling love supplies!

It’s a life of sorts,
It’s not so bad without the kisses,
So if Cupid should come again I’ll escort,
Him off these precious premises!

And if his knocking rings like echoes,
Trying to catch my heart with a bid,
I’ll reinforce the locks and throw away the rose,
Shouting the words “Back off Cupid!”
