When I was a caterpillar by Melanie Jay Narayanasamy ˚˚*✳✩◦.¸¸ღ.◦°˚*◦.¸¸.◦☼°✯
When I was a
caterpillar shut in a cocoon.
You convinced me to become a butterfly with your gentle tune
When I sought gold inside a treasure case,
You showed me where to find jewels in the murky waste
When the darkness of night arrived to leave me lonely and glum,
You sang me a lullaby as I waited for the dawn to come
When I had nowhere to sow my seeds and I desperately made a wish upon the stars,
I woke to find you’d brought me a vase
When my spirits fell like the leaves of autumn,
You led them to dance with a rhythm that you’d taught them.
When a cloud invaded the space upon where my hopes were centred,
You beamed the Sun’s ray until the grey relented
When to the beat of life, my heart disobeyed,
You revived it by coming to its aid
When my happiness was stolen in a heist,
You had your own smile sacrificed
When the stars disappeared from the solar system,
The sparkle in your eyes told me that I wouldn’t miss them
When I didn’t know what to do and my senses were ripped,
Into my hand you placed a script.
When my masterpiece was neglected and torn,
Your fingers re-crafted it from the sketches you’d drawn
When I didn’t know which way to go, my direction lacked,
You became a compass to steer me somewhere exact
When into selfish waters I became immersed,
The float of your heart put me first
When my flowers wouldn’t flourish and their petals dried,
You found them a formula from where water and love collide
When I was riddled and left confused,
You found the solution without the clues
When enemies came chasing with sharpened knives in the hunt,
You made the blades round and blunt
When the ice on my skin refused to thaw,
You begged the fearsome fire to roar
When the walls were up and everybody I shunned,
You reminded me to keep the lock on my heart undone
When carelessness stripped my wings with a cut,
Your arms covered the feelings that left me inadequate
And when I beg to go with you as you ascend,
You will tell me a secret shared only by friends
You’ll say “some stars in the sky are made from special souls’ dust,
So rest assured, there twinkling above will be one made just by us”
