WISHES UPON A RAINBOW
The wishes upon a rainbow,
Will make your heart glow;
Placing wishes upon the seven shades,
Heading for a colour spin,
Can really paint a grin;
And add a sparkle to what was dull and greyed.
Upon Red, I wish that hearts will replace the shed of blood,
That extra love will escape with every heartbeat’s thud,
I wish you the sweetness of red apples from dusk to dawn,
And that you touch the red rose without the thorn.
Upon Orange, I wish away the burning flames that disfigure,
That leave the scars and pain from destruction’s snigger,
I only wish for the rays of orange sunshine for the masses,
So that we can bid farewell to the evil fire that harasses.
Upon Yellow, I wish that every lemon will meet sugar in a spoon,
That our cowardly fears will be sung away with self-belief’s tune,
I want the yellow dandelions to stop being weeded,
So that they see that they are loved and needed.
Upon Green, I wish for the health of the deteriorating mould,
And that beautiful green trees are seen as valuable as gold,
Though its shade may sometimes be called the most envious,
Let's remember the green ways that make beautiful our earthly crust.
Upon Blue I wish for more skies of this shade,
That we all do our bit to carry water instead of leaving it to the maid,
And for the feelings of blue, where tears of woe are dehydrating,
I don’t want the happiness that comes once in a blue moon to leave us waiting.
Upon Indigo I wish that it will remain unique and vibrant,
That we respect it for being this way and don’t needlessly hunt,
And like its shades of blue and purple become blurred,
May more colours mix to make the most beautiful creations that you’ve ever seen or heard!
And finally upon Violet, I wish that those with the painful bruise that will not ease,
Will heal and grow to be as fruitful as the summer berries,
To glow like the dazzling sparkle of a purple amethyst,
So that we shine brighter than the jewels of the bracelet that rests upon our wrist!
Each wish is made in hope,
To cleanse the anguish with desire’s soap;
Isn’t the exchange a wonderful trade!
And when there are no rainbows in the sky going spare,
And no one seems to want to share;
Find the one in your heart and keep it displayed!
